Sultanabad carpet is one of the most famous and valuable handwoven carpets in Iran. It is woven in the city of Sultanabad, with its modern name Arak. These carpets were known as one of Iran’s special export products to European countries in the 18th century.
Sultanabad carpets have a very delicate and precise weave. The special type of knot in these carpets make them soft and supple. These carpets are woven from hand spanned wool or silk thread, which makes them more flexible, durable, shiny and beautiful. Using special natural colors on various designs of this type of carpets give them a unique look. Another good feature of Sultanabad carpets is their lightness and easy portability.
